August 2020 TLL Special Event

Cook Along with Bonnie Stern

We had a wonderful cook-along event with an appreciative audience on Aug 26th with Bonnie Stern. The feedback has been excellent. This was TLL’s first event of this type and we are delighted with its success.

Bonnie’s Cookbooks: For those who want to purchase Bonnie’s cookbooks, you can buy them directly from Random House publishing which offers a discount and free shipping over $20. Here is the link to Friday Night Dinners, but her other books are there too. The books are also available from Amazon and Indigo.

Picture Contest for a free cookbook: Participants of the cook along can submit pictures of their finished Phyllo, Herb and Cheese Tart to tlifelonglearning@gmail.com for a chance to win one of 3 Bonnie Stern cookbooks. Good luck!

Get your apron on and be prepared to cook up something impressive while learning useful tips and techniques from a pro. TLL is offering its first ever Cook-Along online workshop - on August 26th!

COOKING WITH FRESH HERBS:

A COOK-ALONG WITH BONNIE STERN

Your host and teacher will be the award winning Bonnie Stern, founder of the Bonnie Stern Cooking School, cooking show host, author of 12 bestselling cookbooks, culinary cultural tour guide and national food columnist.

You are welcome to cook-along or just watch. If you choose to cook along, you will need to connect with a zoom link in your kitchen with a laptop, tablet or phone. Registrants will receive the recipes and other information prior to the event. You will have a chance to ask questions during or at the end of the workshop.

Bonnie will be doing live demos of two recipes and she will offer lots of hints and tips as she shows you how to cook for optimum success.

What's on the Menu

#1 - Cheese and Herb Phyllo Tarts: If you've never tasted a buttery flaky crispy phyllo pastry wrapped around herbs and cheese, you're in for a treat. The combination of fresh herbs and the way Bonnie will demonstrate working with phyllo pastry will give you many new ideas and variations.

#2 - Fresh Herb and Lemon Salsa Verde: This Italian version of salsa verde will become your go-to summer sauce, salad dressing and dip all in one recipe.

What you will learn

In this webinar you will learn how to make your food taste like summer all year long when you use fresh herbs! You will understand the difference between fresh and dried herbs and the difference between herbs and spices. Bonnie will also cover how to store herbs, which herbs to use when and how to work with phyllo.
